Horace G. McCormack was born in Kingston, Jamaica, W.I., where he was educated through college. He graduated from the University of Technology and the University of the West Indies, majoring in Electrical Engineering and Management, respectively. After a successful career in Jamaica, he entered Polytechnic University in New York City, from which he graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Industrial Engineering, and a Masters of Science in Management.
Following his dream of entrepreneurship to Fairfax, Virginia, Horace joined a world-class management consulting firm. He eventually started his own firm, HGM Management and Technologies, Inc. (HGM) in 1997, which has received several Top Business awards for management, training, and consulting services to the public and private sectors.
Horace serves on the Boards of the Washington, DC Chamber of Commerce and Leadership Greater Washington (Class of 2006). He is an active member of Faith Moravian Church of the Nation’s Capital, where he served on the Board of Trustees and currently serves as President of the Church Council. He is also a member of the Choral Arts Society of Washington’s Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Steering Committee. Horace has also served as a past president of the NYC Chapter of the Institute of Industrial Engineers.
Inducted into the Rotary Club of Falls Church, VA in 1997, Horace has held numerous offices, including Club President in 2000-2001. He received the Rotary International Presidential Citation, several District Leadership awards, and his club’s Rotarian of the Year award (2002). Horace has held numerous positions in District 7610, including Aide to the Rotary International President’s Representative in 2001; Public Relations Chairman; District Conference Chairman; World Community Service Chairman; District Caribbean Ambassador; Area Membership Coordinator; Foundation Seminar Committee member; Faculty member, Rotary Leadership Institute and Virginia Multi-District PETS, and Assistant District Governor 2004-2006. Horace is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow, Paul Harris Society member, and a Rotary Foundation Benefactor. He also is a member of Rotary International’s Safe Blood Action Committee.
Horace and his wife Carlota, have been married for over 26 years. They and their daughter Trudy reside in Fairfax. Carlota, also a Rotarian and Paul Harris Fellow, currently serves as President (2008-2009) of the Rotary Club of Falls Church Club.
