ROTARY INTERNATIONAL'S DISTRICT 7610
INSTALLS NEW GOVERNOR

Horace McCormack, of the Falls Church Rotary Club, has assumed the volunteer post of Rotary International District Governor for 2009-10 Rotary year. As governor, he will coordinate the community and international service projects of the 52 of clubs in District 7610 in the Northern Virginia area. He assumed office July 1, 2009 and will serve through June 30, 2010.

Mr. McCormack is one of 532 Rotarians worldwide serving as a District Governor this year. A member of the Rotary club of Falls Church for twelve years, Horace will also be responsible for organizing new Rotary clubs and strengthening existing ones.

During an installation ceremony at the Fredericksburg Golf and Country Club on June 27, 2009 he told the audience of over 160 Rotarians and guests, "The future of Rotary is in your hands."

He said the main goals for the district in the coming year are to implement projects to improve local and world literacy and health, reduce hunger, and continue to assist efforts to provide clean water to developing countries.

Rotary International plans to achieve its world-wide goal of eradicating polio by raising an additional $200 million by 2012 for this effort in order to fulfill the Bill and Melinda Gates’ Foundation $355 million challenge grant.
